The first apparition

In the early morning of 8th June 1873, which was Trinity Sunday, Auguste Arnaud was tending his grape vines near the village of Saint-Bauzille-de-la-Sylvie in the Herault region of France.  A woman appeared to him dressed in white and wearing a high crown, shaped like a bishops' mitre.  Her hands were joined in prayer and she emminated a radiant light.  She said to him:
'I am the Holy Virgin, do not be afraid.
You have a disease of the vines.  You abandoned Saint Bauzille.  You must celebrate his feast on the day that it falls ...'
Before she left Our Lady told Auguste 'Go and tell the priest immediately'.

She promissed that she would return to him in one month.
